Balanced Kaizen. Creating Change without Destroying People

1. Magic Beans

1. Magic Beans

In the fairytale about Jack and the Beanstalk, a poor farmer is made wealthy by acquiring some magical beans that take him to a place where gold eggs are laid by magic hens… of course he has to outwit evil giants along the way but in the end it was magic that got him the gold…

Sadly belief in magic is not confined to children’s stories even today. Some business leaders believe that success can be bought, like magic beans.
Setting high targets, creating a nice “Strategic Plan”, engaging consultants, even firing non-performing leaders and hiring new, are not enough.
Unless leaders can identify and prioritize the problems that need to be solved, and develop their people to solve those problems, they are just buying magic beans.
Business organizations are amazing creations of human ingenuity, they are difficult to build, and complicated to run. Changing them takes extra skill and dedication, not hope and magic.
The elements of how success can be achieved are simple, practical steps.
